Having some good fishing at Fairport for salmon. Cold water temps (51-53) has the fish scattered all over the water column, but good numbers of fish are present. Yesterday we caught them on just about everything, riggers, dipseys boards, no particular lure or presentation stood out, just cover water. For us, the morning was kind of slow, after getting up at 3 AM, yikes. Best bite was 10:30 till 1:30, in water from 80-150'. I know that sounds pretty vague, but that is what we were doing, big zig-zags in and out. And fish were taken from 30 to 125' down, and just about everywhere in between. Riggers were probably best, but just barely. Ended up with 18 for 21-22, biggest maybe 14#, but all the ones we kept were very nice, 10-12#+ or so, a couple around 6-7#
Was nice to see you guys yesterday. Thanks for the salmon too! Kenneth is going to smoke them up for us. All those fish I saw in your coolers looked pretty darn healthy! It sounded like you guys had a ball. Thanks again for the fish and thanks for the report too!
Thanks for the invite Frank, sorry I couldn't make it, looks like you guys had a blast! Just loaded the smoker with charcoal and soon the smell of Hickory chips will be in the Cornell air!!!
