Wasn't marking squat the other day so I decided to make an appeal to the fish gods above. A couple minutes later I caught a fish! Since it just barely hit the 15 inch line, I said heck with it and let it go. Had to take a quick picture though to send to my brother just to let him know I was out fishing. Might have to work on my "moves" and try the "fish dance" again sometime eventhough it was the only one caught that evening!!! Not surprised though as this is the worst walleye fishing I have seen on the bay since we moved here in 1996. It's not that folks are seeing fish on their electronics and not getting them to bite, they are not even marking anything, period. That is the one comment that stands out in my head more than anything so far this year because I have heard it so much from folks coming in to get bait. We just had 5 guys staying with us that fished hard over 4 days and ended up with 12 keeper walleye is all. Piss poor!!! These guys are good fisherman too. I think Todd said he marked 3 fish TOTAL all day yesterday. Hopefully things pick up before too much longer. On a brighter note- Ray Ballien stopped in yesterday to show me a 28 inch brown trout he caught on Indian Lake. He said it took quite some time to get it to the hole as he was only fishing with 4 lb. test! He said it was slow for almost a couple hours before catching the trout. Once he caught the trout though, fishing picked up and he ended the day catching a meal of perch and two walleye too. Nice fish Ray and thanks for sharing it with us!!!
