I did a little venture out for some whitefish today and I did catch one.

The only problem was it was the only one I caught. I thought I'd do

better but that is why they call it fishing. On the other hand, the burbot

fishing was GREAT. I started out somewhat slow but I started seeing a few

swimming around. I got my bait from kevin but I think he sold me burbot

waxies cuz when I got done fishing I ended up with twenty burbots. They do put up a fight.

But damn it was fun. Thx Kev. And let me tell you about smallmouth bass...I must ha seen over 50

of them. They do put up a fight. Thx Kev.....................There were about 80lbs of burbots.

Just got back late last night from Milwaukee and when I saw this post, I didn't just throw up a little in my mouth...........it was a bucket load.  dohdohblehnoDamnnnnnnnn Tomjohn!!!   Last time I let family come before fishin!!!  LOL. Hopefully we'll try again soon.  

BTW...... I heard burbot breaded in Quisp and deep fried is pretty good.  Gotta fry it till it's gold and Quispy!!!disbelief

On my first trip to Canada years ago my guide caught a pout and boiled the tail and we dipped it in melted better and it was very good!

That's what I'm having for supper tomorrow night....I boil the burbot in pickling spice.
Gives it a nice flavor. Then dip in real butter. Mmmmmmmm

From what TJ tells me those burbot are no good for ya. You are supposed to kill them removing the backstrap and tail fillet and bring them to Sall-Mar for proper disposal. Ask for Burbot Breath or some know him as Kevin.

From what I've been told. The back straps taste like shrimp and the tails like poor man's lobster. The tails I ate were good, but I don't know about lobster.

 You are correct Schmutz!!!  Those Sal-Mar's know exactly how to dispose of them.  You wouldn't catch me eating one of those Damn, Dirty, Pouts!!!  I here they taste like PEOPLE!!!

And yes we do have a Burbot disposal machine here at the resort. So anyone can feel free to drop off Burbot anytime if they so desire. We do not charge for this service either!
