Can you say COLD !!!  Holy crap I've had enough already and we're only gettin started.  I think I've used more propane heating the shack so far than I used all year griling.

We decided to beat the crowds and get out of Dodge and go try for some Bluegills on an inland lake. Haven't done that in a while.  The old saying......it's always cooler by the lake, usually means it warmer by the lake in the winter too.  Well we proved this theory correct. It was -17 on my truck thermometer when we got there and hit a high of -12.  Thank God for fast flip up portables. I sat in mine LMAO as my buddy and his kid were trying to set up a pop up dome shack in the wind with 3 broken poles, rope that was frozen to the poles, and hands so numb the felt like logs!!!  Had to be there!!!

Fishing was fast and steady with a few nice breaks here and there. Good thing they kept coming back because it was too damn cold to go chasing anything!!!  After culling a few we ended up limiting out on gills with none under 7 inches and none bigger than 9 inches coming home with 75. Not as big as a guy would like , but still a respectable mess of fish.

Made it home and had em cleaned by 6:30, and then proceeded with a hot shower, ****tails, and some Jumbo garlic shrimp and pan seared Scallops with crusty bread, salad, and more ****tails.  What a way to end 2013!! wink

Happy New Year everyone and be smart out there during this cold snap!!!  It's Brutal!!!

Slammer!!!
