I have a lowrance H20 with the chip and looking for something with better detail and better depth increments.  What's best?  I have an Ipad and would one of the apps be better than a different chip. Lookin for suggestions. Thanks in advance!!!

I have the Navionics app on my iphone. Way better than my H2O with lakemaster chip.   Only thing is the screen and setting wpt lots easier on the H2O.  The app was 9.99 and has updates all the time.  The Navionics chip in my HDS on my boat not even as good as the app.  Like i said only issue is too small on iphone.  What i do is the day b4 look on iphone indoors where warm, take and compare on H2O and set route and coordinates on H2O from info from iphone.  Then put it in the ram mount on atv and follow away.  Together work pretty damn good.

Here is what it looks on iphone.  All those little lines are 1 ft contour lines.  As you zoom in or out they become more and less visible. For ten bucks you cant go wrong.  image.jpg

I have an H20 with Lakemaster and I have Navionics on my Droid and both are great but the H20 wins only cuz of battery life. However I due use the H20 on my Big Red with the Ext power so it isn't a fair comp that way. I guess if I had a mount to use the Droid on the go I might opt to use it.confuse

Hey, thanks for the info. I don't have a smart phone and still use a stupid phone, but, if I download the app onto my ipad (wifi only) i can use the map to my advantage and plug in the waypoints from it to my H20. Waypoints are waypoints, and I'm just looking for some more detail for spots before I head out. Later if I ever graduate to a smartphone, I 'll be good to go. If that don't work, I'll have to risk more shrinkage and try Tomjohn's idea.
