Today was the final day of fishing with my old neighbor Ivan Robertson and his buddy Kevin from Cadillac. We got on the water again around 6:30 a.m. and went right back to the spot we left the fish yesterday. The fish were running a little smaller than the previous two days of fishing, but we still had some pretty decent action for the first couple hours of the day. I think I remember Ivan saying we had "9 at 9". Then we had a little lull in the action, but we continued to pitch jigs and slowly we kept getting one here and there. We ended up the morning with 14 really nice eating sized fish. I thought the fish would go crazy when the strong south wind picked up, but the bite continued to be somewhat slow. Overall it was a fairly good bite the last few days, and should continue to get better as the water continues to warm up. When we came in the water temp. was around 64 degrees. Unfortunately...tomorrow's forecast of a 20 mph west/northwest wind might blow all the warm water out of the area we've been fishing and/or clear it up some. We caught fish pitching jigs and also dragging a floating jig head tipped with a crawler half behind the boat. Ivan had a pretty nice one break him off first thing this morning dragging a floater. Yesterday Ivan caught the most fish of any of us using this method while Kevin and I pitched jigs to the weedline. Here's a picture of today's fish...good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area.
