Here is a picture of my Lake Superior Burbot from last night. I Fished from 8:30 to 10:30 64 ft of water and managed to land 14 of them. There not as big as the ones that i catch in Big Bay De Noc, but their still good table fair. Most of them were caught on the bottom, but a few suspend to about 10ft off the bottom to feed on smelt.
Wow, that is a really nice catch of Burbot. Would you be willing to point a fellow burbot guy in the right direction on lake superior? I'd really appreciate it !! Feel free to private message me.
Thanks
Well i just had to go out again.... I fished in the same spot and managed to get 29. It was my personal best so far for Lake Superior. The photos are kinda of crappy, but the photos. lol. They seemed to suspend up to about 25ft last night, but most were caught off bottom. I will be having lots of fish sandwiches this year when work starts back up.

I know in Canada they catch them all the time on open water. You really don't hear to many people fishing for them on open water around here. All the ones you here caught are flukes. Well i guess even people fishing for burbot at all. lol. They are defiantly my favorite fish to eat. I do like my occasional salmon though.
My favorite fish to eat as well. My wife and I were out fishing off the Ford River one evening and when it got fully dark, we went by the "can" in that deep water out there because I wanted to try for Burbot. Sadly, I didn't have any minnows with. But I dropped a glow jig down with a gulp minnow just for the hell of it and had fish follow it constantly, but not bite. I really think they were Burbot. I have tried Gulp before ice fishing, and they would not bite it then either. Not a dumb fish. But a real minnow they can't resist. I will post results...
I usually use sucker, smelt or spawn to catch them. I tried to use some "catfish dough ball" (really stinky stuff) and i didn't catch any with it. I would like to see the results when you go!!
I have not caught one on a bare lure. Have caught them with big twister tails, but usually tipped.
Nice mess Brad. Can you imagine those being from BBDN. You'd need a tow truck to hall em home.
Enjoy those fish sandwiches. I had leftover burbot sandwich for lunch today...........awesome!!!
Slammer!!!
