May 18-25 Walleye Report
(Preview)
Hey guys, I know this one's a little late, but I had a case of the "back from vacation" inbox blues at work which has kept me more busy than I planned. On with the report... Arrived Saturday 5/18 at 6AM... slept for a few hours before hitting the water at 10 AM. Trolled 3 colors of lead through the...

Excellent smallmouth trip!
(Preview)
I posted a few weeks back to ask if anyone knew if the smallmouth were in shallow yet but didn't get any replies. We ended up going up to Big Bay during catch and release season last week anyway and had a blast! We landed over 180 big smallies in just 3 days with 8 of them weighing over 5 lbs and many more just un...

May 18-19 Report
(Preview)
Finally had my first trip of the season yesterday with great client Dale DeWildt and his son Mark and his two sons Ty and Drake. I cautioned them before we headed out that the fishing had been tough, but we were determined to keep plugging away until we found some action somewhere. We started out fishi...

Smallmouth Activity
(Preview)
Hello, new to this forum but I'm heading up to Big Bay de Noc next Monday, May 20th to chase some catch and release smallmouth. I've been doing a spring trip up there for the past 5 years but it hasnt been this cold of a spring before so we have always hit them perfect. Has there been any activity or is the wat...

5-15-13 Report - Opening day for walleye!
(Preview)
Guest Jimmy Clausen and his partner Ethan caught their limit this morning and they caught all there fish just drifting with Lindy Rigs (slip sinker - swivel - 4 foot leader - floating jig tipped with 2 inch piece of crawler). Jimmy said it took a little longer than he expected. I guess having to fish...

Lots of perch..
(Preview)
Just wanted to say I did really well on the perch on Garden Bay this spring. The bite was good and the size of the perch was good too. Worms ad crawler pieces worked pretty good but minnows were the ticket for getting bigger perch. I didn't post any pics this year because last year I got ragged on pretty good...

Garden perch bite still going...5-8-13
(Preview)
Talked with several folks who fished Garden either today or yesterday and they are still doing pretty good on the perch. Almost all of them have spawned out though, so they probably won't be as shallow too much longer. The one guy said he was catching all his in 6 feet of water. Sounds like the morning bit...

Looking better...4-30-13
(Preview)
Whew, for awhile there I was seriously worried we were still going to have ice on the opening day of walleye season here on Little Bay de Noc. But the ice is on its way out today!!! As of about 2:00 this afternoon, the lower half of the upper bay was ice free and the docks were being put in at Kipling. Since w...

Opener??
(Preview)
I posted this on another forum as well, but I figured maybe people here on this one would be more up for discussion. With the crazy winter/spring (where?) we're having, anyone care to speculate on the differences in the opener this year as opposed to years past? I'm thinking we'll see fish barely spawn...

Gladstone Harbor 12/8/2012
(Preview)
Gladstone Harbor was skimmed over with ice when my wife and I returned from Esky this evening and it looked like no boats had launched there at all today. I have no idea know how thick the ice is, but there is no wind tonight, so it's probably adding more thickness tonight. Now a snowstorm for tomorrow....

Gladstone still ice free...
(Preview)
The Gladstone launch is still basically ice free. There is just a very thin layer of skim ice and will probably melt again today. Should have no problemsa launching thru the weekend. Heck, it's nicer now than it was a couple weeks ago...

Good bite last night...12/2/2012
(Preview)
Captain Keith Wils http://www.walleyeschoice.com/ found a good bite last night (picture). I also know good friend Darrell Mittlesteadt was out last night and he too caught some very nice walleye. I think Darrell said the biggest in his boat was 29 inches. So the walleye are still bitin' good. Don...

Gladstone launch 12-2-2012
(Preview)
The ice that was in the Gladstone harbor has just about all melted. Not much cold weather in the forecast either, so launching should be no problem for at least a few more days anyway. I will try and check it daily and keep you posted...
